Since 2016 we do in Karlsruhe the 1 vs.1 European breakin qualifier for ComboNation in Kazan Russia. In february 2019 we did a qualifier for b-boys and b-girls. The winner was B-Boy Light of Tru Cru and B-Girl Thai-Break from Gorilla Legion. As the two are part oft the Team Combo family and Baske ToBeTrue was asked to judge the graffiti battle in Kazan. We decided to build a travell team to visit the Russian breaking and graffiti culture event on his 11th Edition in april 2019.
Seven heads had to check passport, clear visa, flights, transportation, accomodation and budget for one week in the the capital and largest city of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. And the rest is history. Or as we say: Legends of tomorrow.
All in all it was a really inspiring trip. A lot of new impressions in every aspect of life and culture. Too much to write in a single blog post.
We met many from the russian breaking and graffiti scene. Saint Petersburg (special shout out tot he Original Good Crew), Rostov, Moscow, Siberia, Perm, our beloved bratiya and sestry from Krasnodar, from all corners of the country.
Also guests from all over the world like New Dehli, India (Shout out to DMC), Venezuela, Netherlands, France, Japan and so on where in the place to be.
We can not say it enough, seven days packed with exchange and new impressions. We propably need a lightyear or two to reflect everything.
We want to thank the local Organisation of Combo Nation and all the volunteers there.

Combo Nation Europe was niiiiice. We had a full place with 66 competitors from Switzerland, France, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Russia, Venezuela and all over Germany.
The battles went good and smooth. Our Jost Sung Goku did a nice job. Our Judges, FlexHolik, Chau-Lin and Reveal went straight and correct trough the event. The music by B-Boy Dj Double D was on point and on edge of time. The teamwork with the location was really good. Thanks to the whole NCO-Club Team. All in all we are happy with the whole outcome and feel good to send B-Boy Anton from The Saxonz to the Finals in Kazan, Russia.

Ende Oktober machte sich eine Delegation der Stadt Karlsruhe auf den Weg zur Russischen Partnerstadt Krasnodar. Der Karlsruher OB, Vertreter des Stadtrates, Kollegen des Stadtjugendausschuss und der Mobilen Jugendarbeit reisten zu den 220 Jahr Feiern der Südrussischen 750.000 Einwohner Stadt.
Mit dabei waren auch 2 Repräsentanten des Combo – Hip Hop Kulturzentrum Karlsruhe, welche mit Unterstützung des Kulturamt Karlsruhe, die Möglichkeit hatten die dortige Hip Hop Szene zu erkunden und sich auszutauschen.
Bereits im Juli hatte das Combo Besuch von dem Writer Gooze aus Krasnodar. Somit bestand für Baske und B-Boy Flexholik schon ein Kontakt der neben den offiziellen Aktionen einen Einblick in die dortige Bewegung ermöglichte.
Neben Breakdance Workshop und Judge bei einem B-Boy Battle wurde Flexholik von „The Boombox TV“ angesprochen ob er zusammen mit dem Russischem B-Boy Drive für einen Clip zur Verfügung stehen würde. Das Ergebnis findet ihr unten.
Baske sollte am Stadtgeburtstag eigentlich mit Gooze und Mak einen örtlichen Trolly / Linienbus besprühen. Aufgrund von schlechten Wetters fiel das ins Wasser. Glücklicherweise hatten sich die Writer am Vortag mit anderen lokalen Malern organisiert und gingen an eine legale Wand zum Malen.
Der Austausch und Fachsimpeln stand mehr im Vordergrund als das eigentliche Bild.
Interessante Gespräche über das hier und dort, gleiches, Visionen und die sehr herzliche Gastfreundschaft machten den Trip zu einem angenehmen Start um die Städtepartnerschaft zwischen Karlsruhe und Krasnodar in Sachen Hip Hop Kultur zu verstärken.
Wir freuen uns schon im November den Writer Mak in Karlsruhe begrüßen zu dürfen.
